Where to Live - Trip to Newark/Fremont

On Saturday we headed over to Newark (about 25 minutes east of us) to watch our nephew Brian play soccer. Jose and I were interested in the area so afterwards we had lunch and drove around. Here are a few pics of Tio Adrian and Charlie in his little outfit "I love my mummy" - thanks C & A!

Jose and I have been struggling with where to live for some time. The items to balance include the commute to his job, staying home with/childcare for Charlie, geographic location/safety, relative distance to support people and home prices.  We love the peninsula and would stay here forever I'm sure if we could easily afford it.  But the reality is it takes both of us working to tightly afford a 2bdr condo.  Newark and Fremont seem like it could be a viable option but it needs further investigating with the real estate options. It would likely be a 30-40 min. commute for Jose  but we wouldn't be any closer to friends or family for extra support which has been a key issue lately. There's always the move back towards our hometown - likely davis or vacaville but the commute would consume at least 4 hours of Jose's day. We could afford a home and be close to our families but we'd be sacrificing our time together and putting a strain on the daily grind.

We continue to look for the best solution...
