Dance

Well the inauguration has come and gone and I can still hardly believe it.  It's an amazing experience to believe so much in a candidate/advocate for him throughout an election cycle and have him win....it's definitely made me a more engaged citizen.  I will always remember yesterday - glued to CNN at home with Charlie and hubbie (who was able to work from home).  I loved every moment and cried (I can barely get through an episode of private practice, give me a break ). Actually, I take that back - I DIDN'T love him walking in the parade - it made my stomach go in knots. My dad would say that we cannot live in fear and should go about our daily lives the way we always would otherwise those people (those who threaten you) win. I agree in my mind but in my heart I was so scared for him - I'm glad it worked out well.

Of course I was gushing over the first dance. You can tell a lot about a couple by the way they dance together.  Some would say that you could also tell how drunk a person is  - but my friend L could freak dance you silly while TOTALLY sober :-) It's so nice to see a couple leading our country that has so much love for each other. I loved that at one ball Barack thanked Michelle and said she does everything he does but does it backwards and at ease :-)

I was thinking about how nice it would be to dance with Jose last night.  When I got my own apartment for the first time in June 2004 (no roommates, just me, an experience I think everyone should have) I had nothing at first. The only thing in my living area was a table (that Jose had let me borrow a couple years earlier to use as a make-shift desk) and a cd boom box my Dad had given me in high school. Jose came over to celebrate my new place with me and brought over some take-out. I tried to talk him into me going to see him at his place in SF (after all I had no where to sit and no tv!) but he really wanted to support my new move. After we finished dinner we discovered that there was a new country radio station back in the bay and we slow danced in my living room...it made a great dance floor. We don't need an inaugural ball or a fancy dress just a little dance floor and a slow song :-)

I love you JYC
