A friend -to remain unnamed- told me I was crazy for going to chorizo weekend this year with Charlie. Crazy is as crazy does I say. Making chorizo is one of my favorite things to do with my family. It's always at the best time in Jan, after the holiday chaos and onto a new year. (Always in January because it has to be cold enough for the chorizo to dry out). Jose is an active participant and that makes my heart happy - to see him side by side with the Spaniards tying treipa. Charlie did great for the most part. We took the larger pack in play because it has a changing table attachment (Charlie's diapees have 2 more steps these days with eczema) and because his little play mat *barely* fits on the bottom and I felt like he'd be more safe/comfortable inside. My sister has some pics of this set-up on her camera and I'll post some soon. I feel like if something is really important to you than you can find a way with a baby in tow (though it's never "the same" and you must build in more breaks) as long as it doesn't become what's best for you as opposed to what's best for babe-na-kins.
The finished product! In Davis/Winters we can hang the chorizo in the garage because it's cold and dry enough. In the bay we are taking a tip from G.P. and trying to hang it in our wine cooler (though G.P.'s is about 25x larger than ours!)In our freezer packs - ready for a hearty breakfast or cool new pasta idea.
